How to Apply Online for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2023?

The candidates can apply for SSC Stenographer Exam from August 2023. For the same, the candidates can check out the direct link and the steps that must be followed to apply.

Step 1: The candidates first need to register themselves on the SSC online portal, the direct link of which is given above.

Step 2: Once registered the candidates can log in by using their credentials (Registration Number and Password).

Step 3: Now check “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination” under the latest notifications.

Step 4: Click on apply at the bottom right and fill in every personal detail asked against all the fields.

Step 5: Upload the Photograph (Allowed File Size: 20 KB to 50 KB, Format: JPEG/ JPG, Image Size: About 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height).

Step 6: Upload the Signature (Allowed File Size: 10 KB to 20 KB, Format: JPEG/ JPG, Image Size: About 4.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).

Step 7: Click on “I Agree” and Enter the Captcha. You can click on Preview to verify all your details. Also, note if the preview is not working, that means you might have skipped any required field, so go through the fields once again.

Step 8: After Preview, Click on Submit.

Step 9: Under the latest notifications only, you will find the below-mentioned links:

Print, Download Offline Challan, Payment, Payment Status, Application Status, Double Verification of Payment

Step 10: Use these links to pay the application fee, check the payment status, and more.

Step 11: Once done with everything, the candidates must download their application form and keep a printout with them for future reference.

Note: The candidates will have to specify whether they are applying for SSC Stenographer “Grade C” or “Grade D”, or both.

SSC Stenographer Application Fee 2023

The selection process for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2023 is as follows:

• Skill Test

• The candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test based on the marks obtained by them in Computer Based Test.
• Skill Test will be conducted by the board and that will be just qualifying in nature. The candidates must note that the skill test is mandatory and those who did not appear in the skill test will not be considered for the final selection.

SSC Stenographer Educational Qualification 

The candidates must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Note: Failing in producing the required documents as on the reference date will lead to disqualification from the selection process.

SSC Stenographer Nationality

The candidates applying for SSC Stenographer exam should fulfill either of the following nationality criteria:

• The candidate may be an Indian Citizen or
• The candidate may be a subject of Nepal/Bhutan or
• The candidate may be a Tibetian refugee who had come over to India before 1 January 1962 with permanent intent of settling in India or
• The candidate may be an Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, etc having the intention to permanently settle in India.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2023

As discussed above, the selection process contains two stages which are online computer based test and skill test. So, let’s discuss the exam pattern for both stages of the selection process in detail.

SSC Stenographer Computer-Based Test Exam Pattern

The Computer based test will contain Multiple choice questions. Below is the detailed SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern for CBT. Also, note that for candidates eligible for a scribe, the total duration will be 2 hours 40 minutes.

SSC Stenographer Marking Scheme (CBT)

• Each question will be of 1 mark. A total of 200 questions will be asked for 200 marks.
• There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
• For all those questions that will remain unattempted will be awarded as 0 marks.
• The questions will be Bilingual (Hindi & English Both) except in the English section.

Stage 2: Skill Test in Stenography

Below is the detailed pattern that the candidates must know about the SSC Stenographer Recruitment Skill test in stenography.

• The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D.
• Candidates who opt to take the SSC Stenography Skill Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment, failing which their probation may not be cleared by appointing departments.
