SSC CGL Exam Pattern

The recruitment calls for a three-tier selection process.

  • Tier-I will consist of questions related to Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude & English Language for 200 marks.
  • The tier-II will consist of four papers according to the post for 100 marks each.
  • Tier III will be a descriptive paper to test the writing skills of the candidates.
  • The candidates applying for the post of Assistant Section Officer in CSS & MEA will be attempting a Computer Proficiency Test.
  • Candidates applying for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax) will be attempting the data entry skill test.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

  • There will be 4 sections in the SSC CGL Tier I Examination - Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude & English Language
  • Each section consists of 25 questions and each question carries 2 marks which makes it a total of 50 marks per section
  • The total time duration is 60 minutes and there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks per question
  • The Total marks can hence be calculated as -

Now, the Online Window for exercising Option-cum-Preference(s) for post(s)/department(s) will be activated from 18.11.2023 to 21.11.2023 (11:59 PM).Earlier, the dates were from 18.11.2023 to 26.11.2023 which has been withdrawn. Before the declaration of final result, Option-cum-Preference(s) for post(s)/ department(s) are required to be submitted by those candidates who have appeared in Tier-II examination.  Also, the Final Vacancies have been announced for CGL Examination - 2023 (As on 16.11.2023). Earlier, The Staff Selection Commission had officially released the SSC CHSL Answer Key 2023 for the Tier 2 exam held from 26 to 27 October 2023. The Tier-1 Examination was conducted from 14th July 2023 to 27th July 2023. The SSC CGL Eligibility is a bachelor’s degree in the concerned discipline.
